Ingredients
- Potatoes (preferably Russets or Yukon Golds)
- All-purpose flour
- Spices (cumin, coriander, turmeric, chili powder)
- Fresh herbs (cilantro, garam masala)
- Salt
- Water
- Oil or ghee (for frying)
Instructions
- Prepare the filling: Boil or steam the potatoes until tender, then mash them with spices and herbs to create a smooth, flavorful filling.
- Make the dough: Combine flour, salt, and water to form a soft dough. Knead until smooth, then rest for 30 minutes.
- Assemble the flatbread: Roll out the dough, stuff it with the potato filling, and seal the edges. Roll the stuffed dough into a flatbread.
- Cook: Pan-fry the flatbreads in a cast-iron skillet or non-stick pan, using oil or ghee, until golden and crispy on both sides. Alternatively, bake at 400°F (200°C) for 15-20 minutes.
Notes
- You can substitute ghee with vegetable oil for a lighter version.
- Experiment with spices to tailor the filling to your preference (e.g., adding garam masala or chili flakes).
- For a healthier alternative, bake instead of frying.
