Ingredients
Scale
- 2–3 lbs turkey necks
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 1 medium onion, diced
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 medium bell pepper, diced
- 2 cups chicken broth
- 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- Salt, pepper, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder (to taste)
Instructions
- Clean & Trim: Rinse turkey necks under cold water, trim excess fat, and pat dry.
- Season: Coat turkey necks with salt, pepper, paprika, garlic powder, and onion powder.
- Brown the Meat: Heat olive oil in a skillet or Dutch oven over medium-high heat. Brown turkey necks for 5–7 minutes per side, then set aside.
- Prepare the Gravy: In the same skillet, sauté onions, bell pepper, and garlic until soft. Stir in flour and cook for 1 minute.
- Simmer: Gradually add chicken broth and Worcestershire sauce, stirring to avoid lumps. Return turkey necks to the skillet.
- Slow Cook: Cover and simmer on low heat for 1.5 to 2 hours, stirring occasionally, until the meat is tender.
- Serve: Enjoy with rice, mashed potatoes, or cornbread.
Notes
- For extra tenderness, let the turkey necks marinate for at least 30 minutes before cooking.
- Add cayenne pepper for a spicy kick.
- Substitute chicken broth with beef broth for a deeper flavor.
- Slow cooker method: Cook on low for 6–8 hours for fall-off-the-bone texture.
